any women who decide to have tubal ligation surgery may go through changes in life that lead to later wanting to have children again. The Lexington Fertility Center specializes in tubal ligation reversal for qualified candidates.  Tubal reversal is a micro surgical procedure in which a previous tubal ligation is repaired restoring the function of the fallopian tubes therefore increasing the chances of fertility.  As with any fertility procedure, it is important to weigh out all options.  We assess every patient’s medical background and risk factors prior to performing a tubal reversal and advise our patient’s accordingly.  In some cases a tubal reversal may not produce the greatest chance of fertility success, and we may advise that IVF may perhaps be the route to take.  Please browse our frequently asked questions below

How is a tubal reversal performed?

A tubal reversal is a micro surgical procedure in which the fallopian tubes are re-opened or unblocked through a small incision above the pelvic area.  The tubes are realigned surgically and in most instances a stint and sutures will hold the tubes in place allowing them to properly heal back in place.

Is this an outpatient surgery?

Yes, you can expect to be home from our facility the same day.

How long will I need to be off my feet?

With any other outpatient surgery, this depends from patient to patient; however most of our patients return to their normal schedule within two days.

How soon can a pregnancy be attempted after a tubal reversal?

You can attempt to become pregnant one cycle after the procedure.

What should I do to prepare for my surgery?

Just as any other surgery we ask our patients to follow a few simple rules.

• No eating, drinking, smoking, chewing gum after midnight on the day prior to surgery.
• Please shower the night before surgery.
• Refrain from wearing make-up and jewelry on the day of surgery.
• Please fill any prescriptions prior to surgery.
• Make arrangements for pick-up at the facility and child-care if needed.
